India's Next President: Election Commission To Announce Election Date Today
With the President’s term ending on July 25 the EC announced the date for next month's Presidential election. Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi made the announcement today with two other Election Commissioners at a press conference in New Delhi. A presidential election will be held in India on 17 July 2017, and counting will be done on 20 July 2017, five days before the incumbent of current President's term expires. Although, President Pranab Mukherjee is eligible for re-election, as no term limits exist in India. Nirmal Singh Lotus Green talks about the upcoming presidential elections. He mentions that uptil now no decision has been taken on the canditates by any party. Neither the BJP- led NDA nor the opposition congress have come out with their candidates for the upcoming presidential elections.
