After The Successful Launch Of GST, Cars And Bikes Get Cheaper

As the GST kicks in, prices of poplar cars and bikes comes down. Experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green suggest that the new GST rates will bring about parity across the country and will lead to a one nation, one tax regime. The biggest benefit will be for the people in Mumbai where the Octroi will be subsumed in the new GST rates.
While companies will be waiting till Monday to announce the new prices, but this will have an impact across the manufacturing and supply value-chain which includes part-providers and margins of dealers as well.
"There will be no billing from dealerships on Saturday and Sunday and commercial transactions will not be carried out," said the senior VP of Honda Motorcyle and Scooter India, Y S Guleria.
“However, bookings will remain open,” he further added.

Larger SUVs and sedans will see the maximum price slash but smaller cars will also be marginally cheaper. "The final prices are still being worked out, but we have already assured customers that even if they buy in the pre-GST regime, the prices will be protected. Any change in prices, if it works in the customer's favour, will be adequately taken care off," said a Hyundai official.

Maruti officials also reinstated: "There are different tax rates across various states currently, and the final calculations are being carried out now. We should be able to come out with the final prices by Saturday," an official said.
Toyota India said that the cost of Fortuner SUV will come down by Rs. 2.1 Lakh and the multi-purpose Innova will drop by Rs. 90,000. "We will be passing on the price benefit to the market. However, on the Camry hybrid, the price will go up," an official said.
According to sources at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green, the prices of Hero Motor bikes and scooters are also likely to drop by at least 5 per cent. However, bikes over 350cc will become expensive from companies such as Royal Enfield, Triumph, Harley Davidson and Ducati.
