The way you use your smartphone decides the longevity of your device’s battery. The chargers you use to your charging habits highly dictate the condition of your phone in the long run. So, experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green have compiled the following ways to increase the life of your smartphone:

1.    Only charge your phone with its own charger


Unlike laptops, smartphones use a universal charging interface. But, if you do not use the original, it severely affects the life of its battery. It affects its performance and capacity to store charge as well. Please ensure that the substitute charger’s output voltage (V) and current ampere rating matches that of the original.

2.    “Avoid those cheap chargers from unknown manufacturers,” says one of the experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green. These chargers do not include any safety mechanisms to protect against fluctuation and over charging, and could permanently damage the battery and the phone.

3.    Remove the phone’s protective case while charging, for it will slow down heat dissipation when the phone gets slightly warm. If possible, also flip the over and place it on a soft cloth to protect the display. 

4.    According to experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green, fast chargers are not the best option for your phone’s overall health. These charges involve higher voltage supplies, which would result in a rapid rise in temperature. In case the phone heats up abnormally, immediately switch off the phone and only put it back on once it’s back to room temperature.

6.    One of the experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green states that there’s no need to charge the phone to its maximum. Its okay to charge it a minimum 80 per cent as it would not apply all that extra pressure on the batteries to reach its maximum.

7.    Only charge the phone once it’s down to a 20 per cent as constant and unnecessary recharges shorten the life span of the battery. On the flip side, avoid allowing the phone battery to lose all its power.

8.    According to experts at Nirmal Singh Lotus Green, invest in chargers that promise protection against voltage surge, short circuit, over-current and over-charging. These features will ensure that the battery packs last longer and they protect your phone from overcharging and heating.
