Patent Applications Become Easier, Government Launches The System For E-Patent Certificates
Working hard towards achieving
the goal of digital India, government has taken yet another step closer to its
dream. According to Nirmal Singh Lotus
Green, in order to eliminate the unnecessary delays in the work, and to
make the issuing of patents hassle-free, the government has issued the system
for filing applications for e-patent certificates.
In a written copy presented at
Lok Sabha on Monday, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave an
idea about how the new procedure for patents would work. The grant for the
e-patent was generated after the public copy of the same was issued on 3rd
July, 2017.
Nirmal Singh Lotus Green says that the copy presented at Lok Sabha very
clearly states the procedure for applying for e-patents:
The certificated will be
generated through an automated system once the patent is granted by the
controller. Then the copy of the same would be sent either directly to him or
to his authorized patent agent on the registered email address.
Nirmal Singh Lotus Green adds that to ensure the better functioning
of the e- patents, the status of the application will be continuously updated
on the website so that the applicant concerned is free from any kind of confusion
regarding the same. Also, the website will have the option for downloading or
printing the form, as desired by the applicant.
The forms for the application are
made available on the official government website (www.ipindia.gov.in). Nirmal Singh Lotus Green says that sheer efforts have been put into
the make sure that the applicant does not face any problem while applying for
the same. The guidelines are mentioned on the page and it is made sure that all
the information is kept black and white, making it easier for the applicant to
trust on the online procedure.
The main objective of the
government moving towards a digital procedure for filing the patents is to
eliminate the unnecessary delays in the offline procedure, be it passing the
grant for the patents or dispatching the patent certificates. Another benefit
that the online procedure is the transparency. The government promises to keep
the site updated with the application status, if they manage to do what they
promise, then this would become a great initiative by the government.
Nirmal Singh Lotus Green says that for the last two years
government has been taking a lot of steps towards digitalizing India. With a
lot of things going online, people are also finding it easier to access the
more complex government procedures now.
The new e-patent certification
system was launched by the government on July 3.
