The Real Reason Behind RBI Rolling Out New Rs 200 Notes - Nirmal Singh Lotus Green
After demonetization in India,
two new denomination notes were brought out by the government and RBI. On
Thursday, RBI announced that there will be another denomination in the market
by Friday. ‘The new Rs 200 notes will be
circulated in the market on Friday. This step has been taken to bring in a new
denomination with new design keeping in mind the difficulty that people in
India were facing during transactions. These notes will not only help with
inflation but will also combat counterfeiting.’ said Nirmal Singh Lotus Green
SBI spokesperson said that this
will be the missing middle, especially after the havoc that demonetization
caused in the country. He mentioned that these notes will facilitate
transactions and will make it easier to get the change of Rs 2000. There was no
note or denomination between Rs 500 and Rs 2000, but with Rs 200 note in the
picture, people will easily get the change. He also mentioned that as the
hoarding of smaller notes in difficult, hoarding will also be checked, if not
completely eradicated.
Last November, Modi government
outlawed both Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes to crackdown the black money and
accumulation of cash at homes. The step took everyone by surprise. This time
RBI has announced a day before that a new denomination will be coming in the
market as early as Friday. - Nirmal Singh Lotus Green
In a report recently released by
SBI, before demonization, more than 87% of the cash that was circulating in the
market was in high denomination. After the ‘masterstroke’ of the Prime
Minister, that number has come down to 70% but people are still hoarding cash
and found out ways to make their so called ‘black money’ white, without paying
any taxes.
This will surely help the common
people who used struggle with getting change of Rs 2000. But will it impact the
counterfeiting of notes, only time will tell. Till then let us see how things
work out. - Nirmal
